On Friday 8th May it is the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, better known as VE Day, and this marks 75 years since the end of World War 2 in Europe. Under normal circumstances there would be a series of public events which allow people to come together to celebrate.
Unfortunately, due to the Covid -19 virus and the rules around social distancing, the types of event normally organised will not be possible. In the coming days we will publish a list of ideas and events which people can join in to celebrate the occasion.
The end of the war in the east ‘Victory over Japan’ is celebrated on 15th August and is known as VJ Day. The now famous ‘Captain Thomas Moore’, who raised funds for the NHS served in that conflict
As a start, in our Village you can see that flags are now flying along the High Street in preparation for the commemoration next Friday.
